Alec presently serves as President and principal attorney at Quarterman, Hodson, Triplett & Leach, P.C., a boutique law firm located one-hour northeast of Atlanta, Georgia in the metro Athens-Oconee County area. Alec was born in Lajolla, California in 1976, to university professors. His family moved to Athens, Georgia when he was less than a year old, where he grew up and still calls home with his wife Dr. Ashley Hodson and three teenagers Simon, Sloan and Charlie.

 Alec is a 1999 graduate of the University of Georgia Honors Program and of the University of Georgia School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA). There he focused his studies on international diplomacy and negotiations, skills which have helped him excel in his present field of residential and commercial real estate legal practice for nearly 20 years. From 1999 to 2001, Alec worked in banking and as a legislative aid to the Georgia General Assembly – House Transportation Committee. Alec earned his J.D. from The Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and was admitted by the Georgia State Bar to the practice of law in 2003, joining the law firm of Russell T. Quarterman, P.C.

In 2008, Russell T. Quarterman, P.C. became Quarterman & Hodson, P.C., which became Quarterman, Hodson & Morang, P.C. in January of 2016, to later become Quarterman, Hodson, Triplett & Leach P.C. in 2022.

Since 2003, Alec has focused his legal practice in complex commercial and residential real estate closings, business transactional law (M&A), real estate development and corporate law, among other areas of expertise.  Alec has personally facilitated and completed over 16,000 real estate and business transactions of all types – from simple residential purchase and sale transactions to complex commercial closing transactions exceeding 500 million dollars.

Alec is an approved closing attorney for many local and national commercial and residential Lenders and is an approved title insurance agent with Stewart Title Guaranty Company, Alliant National Title and Fidelity National Title Insurance Company. Alec is an active member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia dispute resolution, creditor’s rights, real property and corporate law sections, the Western Circuit Bar Association, the American Land Title Association (ALTA), the Athens Area Association of Realtors, The Athens Land Trust, and The Oconee Land Trust, the Mercer University President’s Club, the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art, among others. Alec also serves on the boards of, and as an invited speaker for many professional, charitable, and civic organizations. Alec has served as adjunct faculty teaching real estate law in the University System of Georgia ABA paralegal program at Athens Area Technical College and has provided approved credit continuing legal education for members of the State Bar of South Carolina.

Alec was named as the 2009 Athens Area Association of Homebuilders Professional of the Year and the 2020 Athens Area Association of Realtor’s Business Professional of the Year.

Alec is certified by the Georgia Supreme Court Office of Dispute Resolution as a civil mediator and has been admitted to practice law before all Georgia State and Superior Courts, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the United States Federal District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

In his spare time, Alec enjoys spending time with his family and 3 dogs in the North Georgia Mountains and along the barrier islands of Georgia, real estate investing, fishing, traveling, collecting rare coins, restoring classic cars, rock and fossil hunting and playing Blackjack.
